Overview
Hexarelin is a synthetic growth-hormone-releasing peptide, structurally related to GHRP-6, studied both for growth-hormone release and for potential effects on cardiac tissue.
How It's Thought to Work
Like other GHRPs, it activates the growth-hormone secretagogue receptor to stimulate pituitary GH release; research has also explored receptor activity in cardiovascular tissue.
What the Research Says
Small human pharmacology studies exist on GH release; cardiac research is largely preclinical. Long-term human outcome data is limited, and tolerance to repeated dosing has been reported.
